Everwind Drill (you may also call it the drill tool or advanced mining tool) is a specialized tool in Everwind. It breaks hard materials like Ancient Metal Blocks (those tough purple blocks that don’t let you redesign ships).
But how can you craft it? Actually you can’t craft drills in this current early access version (up to 7th April 2026). The Icon is right there but it is just an icon!

What Makes Drill Important?
This Drill can break the blocks that normally can’t be destroyed with standard pickaxes or tools. So when it is not available it limits how freely you can edit or harvest parts of islands and ships.
The core function of this tool will likely be a game changer. So, the developers are facing challenges putting it into the game. Even after polishing the function, it may not suit the overall game system. So for now try to find different ways that are not dependent on that drill. We don’t know when the tool will be finally added to the game.
How to Craft Everwind Drill
Drill in Evervind will be craftable in a future update. Unlocking it ties into the Engineer skill tree (the utility path). You’ll need to invest skill points there. Likely into nodes like Advanced Tools or related crafting upgrades.
Highertier Engineer skills improve crafting, airship building and tool access overall, so progressing that tree is key for utility players.
In the meantime, you can work around by using regular pickaxes for normal ores and rocks. Also fighting or breaking down Rusty or damaged Steamer machines for metal parts is possible without needing the drill.
Explore the islands and try to loot, find and craft new stuff. Drill will be so important in the later versions but for now, you can find many other ways to continue your journey.
What to Use Instead
Many further options will be added to the game later, but for now, we should stick to the current tools and opportunities. This way you master the game much more than the late players. Hard times create strong men!
Use the best tool and try to upgrade them. Many of them are not as efficient as drill on harder blocks, but they work anyway. Breaking down enemies is another way to obtain valuable resources without crafting and mining. Metal Scraps, Screws, Sprockets, Springs and things like this will help you a lot and you don’t need a drill to obtain their rewards.
Don’t forget progressing your skill tree. It unlocks better tools and harvesting capabilities. Also I recommend you always repair and upgrade your existing tools at the Anvil station to maximize efficiency.
Still No Drill!
So far, Everwind drill is not in the game yet. It probably has a strong function in the play. But anyway even without it, you can enjoy the game enough. Just upgrade what you already have and develop your skill tree.
