Doormaker Slay the Spire 2
The Doormaker fight unfolds through several phases. The boss regularly disappears and summons a door that you must defeat first.

After the door is destroyed, Doormaker returns and the battle continues. Before long, the boss may vanish again and summon another door. This recurring mechanic stretches the encounter out which make it significantly longer than a standard boss fight.
How to Beat Doormaker in Slay the Spire 2?
Doormaker boss fight can be difficult because it focuses more on endurance than raw damage. Rather than defeating the boss in a short burst, you must survive multiple door phases
Some phases also include heavy damage turns. If your deck cannot generate strong block while still dealing consistent damage, the encounter can quickly become overwhelming. Decks that depend on slow setup strategies may struggle the most in this fight.
Pattern of Doormaker Fight
The main mechanic of the encounter centers on the doors that the boss summons. The fight typically follows this pattern:
- Doormaker vanishes from the battlefield
- A door appears and becomes the new enemy target
- You must destroy the door before anything else happens
- Once the door is defeated, Doormaker returns and the battle resumes
Phase 1
You will face the Door, which has 155 HP and can deal 20+ damage per turn. On the third turn, it buffs itself with +3 Strength. This makes its attacks to quickly exceed 30 damage if the fight drags on.
We found strong success using characters like the Silent and Regent. Cards such as Reflect, which provide both solid Block and offensive value, perform especially well in this encounter. If you do not have those options, focus on managing your Energy efficiently.
Phase 2
After you destroy the Door, the Doormaker appears and is stunned for one turn. This is your best opportunity to go fully on the offensive and deal as much damage as possible.
On its second and third turns, the Doormaker can hit for over 30 damage before fleeing again. It will also gain 3 Strength before leaving. During these turns, you will need to balance blocking with dealing damage, since they are still important windows to chip away at its health.
Phase 3
Once the Doormaker disappears, the Door returns at full health. The cycle repeats, but now the Door starts with +3 Strength, making its attacks much more dangerous.
Your approach stays the same. Slowly wear it down while minimizing incoming damage. You will need to defeat the Door again to bring the Doormaker back.
If you are using the Silent with a poison build, there’s a big advantage: poison stacks carry over when the Doormaker reappears. This makes it much easier to finish the fight during the next phase.
If you dealt enough damage previously, the stun window should be enough to take it down. If not, you still have the following turn to finish the job before it overwhelms you. However, if the fight drags on, it becomes much more dangerous. The Doormaker will start gaining even more Strength.

This cycle repeats multiple times throughout the encounter. The battle goes through multiple repeating phases until Doormaker’s health is fully depleted and the boss is defeated.
Best Cards for Defeating Doormaker
To defeat the boss more easily, I recommend using the following cards, which provide high-value damage and utility:
- Soverigan Blade
- Crescent Spear
- Gather Light
- Reflect
- Stardust

Moreover, try to build reliable Block generation to survive the fight. On the other hand, Save your burst damage and use it as soon as Doormaker returns to the battlefield. These strategies can make this boss encounter much easier to manage.

This devoted gamer wrote “Strike” and “Defend+” as high value regent cards?
Thanks for your comment! I included those cards based on my personal playstyle at the time, but I realize now they don’t quite hold up as high value in the broader meta. You’re absolutely right. there are much more powerful options available.
I have updated the article to include cards that offer better scaling and impact than a standard Strike or Defend. I really appreciate your attention to detail; feedback like yours helps me keep the content accurate and useful for the community. Thanks again!”
