We Were Here Tomorrow Walkthrough: Puzzle Solutions

In this We Were Here Tomorrow walkthrough, I’ll help you tackle the puzzles inside Norček Industries, including the G-46C symbol panel and generator cable route. You’ll also find Greenhouse plant clues, Optics Lab troubleshooting, and ways to recover from common co-op problems.

Getting trapped inside a mysterious research facility in Antarctica is bad enough. Having to describe a strange symbol to someone who can’t see your screen? That’s where the real trouble begins.

How the Two Explorers’ Tools Work

In We Were Here Tomorrow, each Explorer has a different device to help solve puzzles. One Explorer has an extendable grabbing tool that can reach distant controls and pull levers. The other has a device that produces solid blocks, allowing you to reach elevated areas or hold down pressure plates.

You’ll need to consider what each tool can do whenever a puzzle seems impossible to solve alone. The tools also gain additional abilities as you progress, so don’t assume every obstacle requires the same approach.

Greenhouse Plant Puzzle: Battery Bulb and Time Mechanics

The Greenhouse introduces one of the game’s more interesting mechanics: manipulating the relationship between the past and the future.

You and your partner experience the same location at different points in time. An action taken in the past can change the environment that the other Explorer encounters in the future.

We Were Here Tomorrow Greenhouse puzzle

To work through the Greenhouse, start by comparing what you and your partner see. Describe anything that appears accessible in one time period but inaccessible in the other. The important part is understanding which changes carry forward. When something changes in the past, your partner should check whether the corresponding object or route has changed in the future.

I wouldn’t rush through this one. It’s easy to focus on what’s directly in front of you and forget that the solution might depend on something happening in a completely different version of the room.

Battery Bulb and Plant Clues

The goal of the Greenhouse puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow is to cultivate a Battery Bulb, which also unlocks the All Grown Up achievement. Since you and your partner experience the Greenhouse in different time periods, the plants you prepare in the past affect what grows in the future.

The research board provides several clues, including a red square, a blue triangle, and a watering-can symbol. These help you identify the relevant colors and growing conditions, but you’ll also need to pay attention to which plant you’re using. Matching the correct fertilizer colors isn’t enough if you’ve picked the wrong plant.

Make sure your partner checks what grows in the future after each change. Otherwise, you could spend ages experimenting with the fertilizers when the plant itself is the problem.

Greenhouse Plant Puzzle Not Working?

If your Greenhouse puzzle isn’t progressing despite using the correct colors, check the plant you’re trying to grow. Patch 1.1.2, released on October 23, 2026, fixed a Chapter 5 bug where placing the wrong plant with the correct colors in the final pot could break the puzzle.

Make sure you’re playing on the updated version and double-check the plant type before trying another combination. You should also review the growing conditions instead of assuming that matching two fertilizer colors guarantees success.

If you’re interacting with a temporal anomaly and nothing happens, try standing directly in front of it. The developers specifically identified interaction positioning as an issue in their known-issues guidance.

Office of Tomorrow Gravity Puzzle Tips

The Office of Tomorrow takes the usual idea of walking through a building and makes it considerably more confusing. Gravity behaves differently here, changing how you move through the environment. Walls and floors don’t always serve the purpose you’d expect, so navigating the area requires thinking beyond normal movement.

Unlike sections where the Explorers are separated, this location lets you cooperate in a shared space. The grabbing device can reach distant controls, while the block-producing tool can create platforms or activate pressure plates where applicable. Pay attention to how gravity changes your route and work together to reach areas that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Optics Lab Laser Puzzle: Crystal Clues and Troubleshooting

The Optics Lab is one of the trickier puzzles in We Were Here Tomorrow because you and your partner can see each other but can’t reach the same areas. You’ll need to direct a laser through the correct crystals, using clues that describe their properties.

The clues refer to a mirror, tranquility, and inner fire. Each description points to a particular crystal, so don’t just focus on the color of the beam. Have one Explorer read the crystal descriptions while the other compares them with the specimens in the room.

Correct Laser Colors but the Puzzle Won’t Complete?

If your laser reaches the machine but the puzzle still fails, you might have selected the wrong crystal. Some specimens produce similar colors but have different shapes.

For example, Pingosius Crystalis is a blue, spiky crystal. It’s important to distinguish it from other blue specimens rather than picking the first one that looks right.

One player reported getting a blue → green → purple laser sequence but still couldn’t complete the puzzle. The discussion revealed that the physical formations of the blue and purple crystals matter, not just their colors.

Before changing the entire laser setup, compare the crystals with their descriptions and drawings. It’s easy to spend ages adjusting the beam when you’ve been using the wrong specimen all along.

Generator and Cable Puzzle Solution

The Generator and Cable Puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow requires you to restore power to three batteries by connecting the correct generators. The trick is that you don’t need to activate every generator in the room. Each module must connect to the one you activated immediately before it, and you can’t use the same module twice.

Correct Generator Route

Start at GEN and activate the generators in this exact order:

GEN → Ψ01 → Ψ04 → Ψ02 → Ψ03 → Ψ06 → Σ04 → Σ03 → Σ01 → Σ02 → Ψ08 → Θ03 → Δ02 → Δ03 → λ02 → λ03 → λ01 → Ψ07

As you follow this route, three modules unlock doors to other parts of the network:

DoorGenerator to Activate
Red DoorΣ03
Green DoorΣ02
Blue DoorΔ03

Opening a door gives you access to more generators, but don’t jump straight to them. You must continue from your last activated module. The battery screens show which generators the power must pass through, and Ψ07 must be the final module connected to each battery.

How to Reset the Cable Puzzle

If the power stops moving or you activate the wrong generator, both Explorers need to pull their reset levers at the same time. You can then restart the sequence from GEN.

One thing that makes this puzzle particularly confusing is that illuminated cables don’t always show the actual path you need to follow. Pay attention to the last activated generator rather than assuming every glowing wire is a valid next connection. Calling out each module’s label before pressing it can save you another trip back to GEN.

G-46C Symbol Puzzle Solution: Which Four Buttons to Press

The G-46C Symbol Puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow is located in the Temporal Research Centre. One Explorer uses the G-46B panel to check the clues, while the other works with G-46C, which has 15 symbol buttons arranged in three rows of five.

Before pressing anything, move both levers on the G-46B side into the blue zone. Then, on the G-46C panel, select these four buttons:

  • Top row: Third and fourth buttons from the left.
  • Middle row: Second button from the left.
  • Bottom row: Third button from the left.

The selected symbols include a horizontal bar with upward-pointing ends, a small diamond, a circle crossed by a vertical line, and another diamond connected to a stem.

These four pieces combine to form the symbol shown in the clues. If you get the combination wrong, double-check the lever positions and count the buttons again, starting from the left of each row.

I wouldn’t blame you for getting stuck here. With 15 strange symbols staring back at you, it’s easy to overthink a puzzle that only needs four selections.

Beyond the Rift in We Were Here Tomorrow

Beyond the Rift takes the adventure into a mysterious alien world connected to Norček Industries’ research. The puzzles here introduce unusual plants and rune-powered devices, so you’ll need to figure out how their effects work together to open new paths.

How to Open the Theta Gate

If you’re stuck at the Theta gate and can’t find a switch to open it, take another look at the red fish surrounding the doorway. When viewed from the right position, they form shapes resembling handprints.

The solution is surprisingly simple: both Explorers need to use the Wave emote together while facing the handprints. Coordinate with your partner so you perform the gesture at roughly the same time. Once the interaction registers, the passage opens.

No complicated machinery this time. Apparently, a friendly wave is all the door wanted.

How the Rune Puzzle Works

The rune puzzle introduces devices that change the properties of plants. Each device uses two types of runes:

  • Cross-shaped runes: Identify the plant you want to affect.
  • Triangular runes: Determine the effect applied to that plant.

The effects include shrinking or growing a plant, making it transparent, and activating its special ability. Look at the symbols carefully: inward-pointing arrows indicate shrinking, outward-pointing arrows indicate growing, a curved four-pointed star represents transparency, and a radiating star indicates activation.

The devices also work through a WHEN and THEN system. A device with a red indicator checks whether a condition is met, while the connected device applies the corresponding effect. Follow the cable between them to understand which action triggers the next change.

For example, some puzzles require an eye plant to detect one of the Explorers before another device activates. If your runes seem correct but nothing happens, try standing where the eye can clearly see you.

Keep an eye on conflicting effects, too. Trying to shrink and grow the same plant at once won’t produce the result you’re looking for. Work with your partner to identify which condition needs to be activated before changing the next plant.

How to Restart From a Checkpoint

We Were Here Tomorrow automatically saves your progress, with most checkpoints appearing after you’ve completed a puzzle and entered the next room.

If you need to recover your progress, Total Mayhem Games has documented the following procedure for Xbox: return to the main menu, select Change under Your Journey, then choose Start New Journey and select an available checkpoint.

If the checkpoints are unavailable or can’t be selected, try switching hosts. Keep in mind that you can’t necessarily restart from the middle of every puzzle, since checkpoint availability depends on your saved progress.

We Were Here Tomorrow Mic Not Working? Voice Chat Fixes

Communication is essential in We Were Here Tomorrow, which makes microphone problems particularly frustrating. The game’s walkie-talkie system doesn’t allow both Explorers to transmit at the same time. If you’re holding the talk button, you won’t hear your partner speaking over the radio.

Patch 1.1.2, released on October 23, 2026, fixed an issue where voice chat stopped working or failed to reconnect when the Vivox servers went offline. The update also fixed a separate bug that could make the walkie-talkie disappear unexpectedly. Make sure your game is updated before trying other fixes.

If your microphone still isn’t working, check that the correct input device is selected in the game’s audio settings and in Windows. You can also try switching the session host or verifying the game files on Steam, although these are general troubleshooting steps rather than confirmed fixes for every voice chat problem.
