Star Citizen Skylark Guide: How to Get and Dock It

The RSI Skylark is a small one-seat snub fighter that comes with the new Constellation Mk V Centaurus. You can fly it now, but not for long because for now it is only available through a short event rental. We show you how to get it, what it can do and how you can dock it.

How to Get the RSI Skylark in Star Citizen

You can’t buy the Skylark yet. The only way to fly it is the RSI Discovery Month rental.

  1. Open your contracts and go to the Transport section.
  2. Accept and finish RSI Discovery Month: Constellation Rental Offer.
  3. You get a 5-day rental of the Constellation Mk V Centaurus. The Skylark is docked on the back of it.

The mission is easy and shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes. The event ends on October 20, 2026, so you better hurry.

These are based on my short experience and also what I found online:

Guns

Two sit on the wings and one is under the nose. They are only Size 2, so they take a long time to kill even a Pisces.

Star Citizen Skylark Guns

Missiles

The rack is fixed to the ship. You can change the missile type, but not the size.

Parts

The power plant, coolers and shield generators are physical items. You can pull them out and put them back by hand.

Storage

There is no cargo grid, but you get a small personal storage box and one weapon rack for a rifle or SMG. An LMG did not fit in one test.

Speed

Someone reached about 535 m/s with boost. With no quantum drive, the Constellation does the long trips.

Handling

Generally the Skylark is very agile and maneuverable with great visibility.

Skylark vs Fury and Pitbull

The Fury has four Size 2 guns and the Pitbull has four Size 1 and two Size 2 guns, so the Skylark has less gun damage. But it makes up for this with two shields, tougher armor and ten missiles. One player puts the Fury at about 300 more DPS.

How to Dock and Undock the Skylark

To undock:

  1. Sit in the Skylark and turn it on.
  2. Make sure the Constellation is flying. You cannot undock on the ground, but it works after takeoff with the landing gear up.
  3. Press T to target the Constellation.
  4. Press Right Alt + N. Plain N does nothing. If you changed your keybinds, yours may be different.

To dock again:

  1. Fly close to the dock at the back of the Constellation.
  2. Target the ship and press Right Alt + N. If you get an out-of-range message, move closer and press it again.
  3. Auto-docking takes over from there.

Can You Buy the Skylark or Use It With Other Ships?

Buying: Not yet. The Skylark isn’t in the store and has no price. RSI says the rental comes ahead of the Centaurus’s release, so it should become available for buying in the future, but the Skylark’s own price and terms are unconfirmed. We also don’t know if it will come with the Centaurus or sell alone. It is built for the Mk V, and nothing official says it works with the older Mk IV.

Other ships: Players have fitted it into a few ships without its own dock:

  • GATAC Tyilui: It fits on the four snub pads. A player says two more fit on the cargo grids, for six in total. Those two are improvised spots, so they may not get repair or rearm services.
  • Starlancer TAC: One Skylark fits in the rear cargo bay, and more may fit if you remove the 8 SCU boxes. This bay gave no repair or rearm service.
  • Nomad: One player says it fits in the cargo bed.
  • Constellation Mk V cargo bay: One player says you can park three more Skylarks there on top of the docked one.

That’s everything you need to know about the Skylark. Have you tried it yet or not? Tell us whether you liked it or not in the comments below.
