Fishing can be challenging in Nivalis Nights. Fishing lets you catch your own ingredients for your noodle bar and sell what’s left. I’ve tried to cover all the necessary information you need to start fishing. Some details are still being tested, so I’ll update this guide as players confirm more.

How to Unlock Fishing in Nivalis Nights
The fastest way found so far is to visit the Docks and talk to Boardwalk Ady, who gives you a rod for free. The route to the Docks is in the last section.
How to Get and Equip the Fishing Rod
Walk down the ramps to the main Docks area. You’ll see a fishing trawler and a small rowboat next to each other at the bottom. Ady is fishing on the pier on the other side of those boats. Talk to him and he gives you the Rusty Fishing Rod.
The rod doesn’t go into your hand by itself. Press I to open your Inventory, find the Rusty Fishing Rod, and click the hand icon next to its name.
Nivalis Nights Fishing Controls
Mouse and keyboard:
- Aim your crosshair at any water. The boardwalk and the canals near the Docks both work.
- Left-click to cast.
- Wait for the face icon to turn amber, then left-click again to reel in.
Fishing is very simple. You just click when the big icon tells you to. The face icon shows what’s happening:
- Blue: waiting for a bite.
- Amber: you hooked something. It can be a fish or trash.
- Yellow-green: catch successful.
- Red: catch failed.
All 24 Nivalis Nights Fish
Steam has a catch achievement for each of these 24 fish:
Burbot, Pike, Stickleback, Rudd, Crucian, Volga Zander, Ide, Carp, Lake Trout, Bream, Brook Trout, Tench, Dace, Grayling, Perch, Roach, Ruffe, Sabrefish, Zope, Zander, Taimen, Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, and Salmon.

These are rough numbers. Prices change with the day, the buyer, and how fresh the fish is. A decaying fish sells for less than half of a fresh one, so sell your catch quickly.
You won’t only catch fish. One Reddit player says some of the items they hook sell for a high price.
After your first catch, go back to Ady. He asks for 2 Burbot, 1 Stickleback, and 3 Pike. Bring them and he adds you to the Underground Fish Market.
How to Reach the Docks and Use the Boat
Take a taxi from the southwest side of Meridian Market. Look for the taxi that says “Take Cab to Docks.”
You don’t start with a boat. Boat ownership comes from quests, and a secret achievement called Seafarer is for becoming a boat captain and exploring the sea.
If your boat quest asks you to discover a new area, look for marked tunnels. New areas are reached through marked tunnels.
