The Best Gun in Bodycam Right Now | Locked & Loaded Update Tier List

Bodycam weapons used to spawn randomly, and buying one from the Locker only set which version you’d get if the game happened to hand it to you. That finally changed with the Locked & Loaded update that added a real loadout system. So with the freedom of choice, we all have the same question: what is the best gun in Bodycam? Here’s what I dug out after hours of researching and testing.

Locked & Loaded New Weapons

Six guns were added to the loadout on September 2, and every other weapon in the game was reworked alongside them. So nothing plays exactly as it did last week. Here’s what you will get:

WeaponClassStatus
BK-101ShotgunNew
RivingtonSniper rifleNew
SG9-XMachine pistolNew
VeaperMachine pistolNew
SG5-XMachine pistolReturning
CR-75PistolNew

Note: These new names come straight from Reissad Studio’s own patch notes v0.8.

Best Gun Tier List

Before judging my list, I should make this clear: there is no single ‘best gun’. Different classes and maps require different guns. But I am assuming you are here to get an overall answer, and after countless hours of research, I would confidently say that this is the overall tier list you can refer to:

TierPicks
SAssault rifles (M4/SCAR builds) for all-round reliability; SMGs on tight indoor maps
APistols as a backup; snipers if you can land the first shot every time
BShotguns, useful only inside a room or doorway
CAnything you haven’t unlocked attachments for yet

Among the six new guns, I would put the Rivington first for its reach in Trenches and Village, then the SG9-X and Veaper for close quarters, with the CR-75 ranked least impactful.

Reddit’s current favorites back the class read: a base AK with a red dot and grip, and M4 builds keep coming up as reliable picks four days into the patch v0.8. Early days, but the pattern’s consistent enough to trust it.

Best Gun by Class

Class matters more here than any single gun name, and it survives patches better too.

ClassBest PickWhy
Assault RifleM4 or SCAREasiest recoil to control; the AK hits just as hard but sprays more
SMGAny, indoorsDominant on tight maps like Powergun or Airsoft, weak on Trenches’ open ground
ShotgunBK-101About 5 meters of real range, a doorway gun, not a primary
SniperRivingtonOnly “best” if you land the first shot. Miss it, and you’re holding a slow rifle
PistolCR-75 or DeagleDraw speed decides fights; always carry one as backup

With no crosshair in this game, sight picture beats raw stats. That’s why the class you can actually aim with wins over the one with the best numbers on paper.

Why “Best Gun” Works Differently Here

Bodycam has no crosshair and no ammo counter, so you’re aiming with a physical sight picture instead of a fixed reticle. Kills come in one headshot or two body shots, no matter which gun you’re holding. So raw damage numbers don’t separate weapons the way they do in other shooters.

What decides a fight is whether you land the first shot fast, and whether you can actually see your sights through the fisheye lens the camera uses. That’s why handling and sight picture matter more than any stat sheet, and there’s no official one anyway.

Fastest Way to Unlock Them

Reissad admitted progression is too slow right now, and the numbers are supporting that like a dad at a Little League game. There are about 400 new attachments in the game. Reissad Points earning rate depends heavily on the mode:

ModeRP Bonus
Wingman 2v2+100%
Versus+100%
Hardpoint+75%
Team Deathmatch+50%
Deathmatch+50%
Gun Game+25%

Wingman and Versus double your earn rate, and Wingman is the only mode that also gives you rank and ELO. Gun Game is the slowest way to progress. So skip it if unlocking the Rivington is the goal. Expect these numbers to shift again since the devs have already said a rebalance is coming soon.

FAQ

Can you pick your gun in Bodycam now?

Yes, since September 2. You start with a base weapon and unlock the rest with Reissad Points. No real-money purchases are involved anymore; that shop is disabled for this update.
