Torchlight Infinite Terra skill Guide: All About Selena

I’m just a dude who’s sunk way too many hours into Torchlight: Infinite, and let me tell you that Season 13 (Afterlight) with Selena 2 and these Terra skills is a game-changer. Selena turns your Terra into a walking death cloud that follows you around like a loyal puppy.
I tried a few setups early on and yeah, it feels like cheating in the best way. No more dropping skills and hoping enemies walk into them: you just walk forward and everything melts. Here’s my practical, no-BS guide based on what actually works.
All About Terra:
Why Terra Skills on Selena 2 Rock
Selena 2’s base trait makes your Terra skills follow you instead of sitting still. It’s like Righteous Fire vibes from Path of Exile but way more flexible.
By around level 45, with the key node Silencing Severance, your main Terra skill auto-casts whenever its charges are full. You literally become a walking autobomber. Just hold W and watch the screen explode.

Downsides? It reserves 20% of your mana and slows your move speed by 30%. But trust me, with movement speed boots, passives, and buffs, you zoom around fine.
One more thing: this season’s Terra rework doubled base Terra duration from 3 seconds to 6 seconds and expanded the base skill area. Both of these numbers matter directly for how the Cycle node scales (more on that below), so keep them in mind.
Main Playstyles for Terra Skills
There are basically two big paths (plus some hybrids). Pick based on what you like:
DoT / Reap Focus (Great Early Game)
This was super strong right out of the gate in my testing. Taking the Paradise node gives you a free, level-one Ominous Curse aura that debuffs enemies as they take DoT damage and eventually executes them outright, or chunks bosses for 20% of their life.
The real payoff
The Cycle node is the real payoff here. It takes 25% of your critical strike rating and adds it straight to your Terra skills’ duration. so, with something like 400% increased crit chance, you’d push that base 6-second duration out to 12 seconds. On its own that’s already great for clearing, but the node’s second half is the kicker.

Every time you refresh your Terra, the old one gets deleted and detonates as a Reap dealing damage based on however much duration it had left. Stack enough crit and this turns into the single highest-damaging Reap currently available on any Torchlight build.
A fully loaded version can hit roughly three times the base Reap roll you’d get off a T0 scepter, for free. And since Reap duration caps don’t exist this season, these Reaps can chain into seconds upon seconds of overlapping damage.
Hit / Spell Burst Focus (Endgame Beast Mode)
Go down the middle tree for Dream Breaker’s Gyre and Layered Hem. This will give you more Terra charges, tied to your max spell burst count, plus faster charge restoration.
And thanks to this season’s Terra rework, every charge now adds flat bonus damage for the skill’s full duration when it fires.
New Terra skills love spell bursts. Some people get insane multipliers, up to 900% extra hit damage on skills that consume a spell burst when they activate.
When It Shines in Torchlight
This path shines once you have decent gear. Think item level 86+ with T1 rolls. DoT still feels smoother for the first day or two of a league.

Other cool options are lightning fields, erosion zones, physical or life-scaling Terra effects. Selena isn’t locked to one element she’s genuinely flexible.
Nodes to skip
Drenched Hem and Crimson Endless Dance are both considered weak picks by most build theorists this season. Lonely Ensemble (which summons stationary clones that shotgun your Terra skill alongside you) is also a bit of a trap:
Taking it means committing fully to the middle branch and giving up Silencing Severance, which means giving up your automation. It’s really only for late-game setups that source automation from somewhere else entirely.
Leveling & Skill Setup Tips
My Torchlight Terra guide won’t be much practical without this section. Read it with eyes wide:
Early Campaign

Start with Frost Terra, supported by Control Spell, Ground Divide, Increased Area and Cataclysm.
Use Frigid Transmission to dash in and land hits on bosses (Frost Terra itself has no hit component, so this is your workaround for boss damage during leveling). Biting Cold works well as your curse for extra boss damage and Arcane Circle helps clear dense areas faster.
Automation Milestone
Grab Silencing Severance as soon as you can. Feels like ascending to god mode.
Skill Swap
Around level 55, transition your main skill to Tidewall (or whatever fits your chosen element) for the endgame hit-based phase. No big respec needed, the passive tree is built with the endgame skill in mind from the start.
Cast Speed
Worth grabbing early even though it doesn’t do much for Frost Terra directly. It carries over cleanly once you swap into Tidewall at 55, so you’re not wasting the points long-term.
Defenses

Lean into evasion, deflection, blur and recovery from the hero tree. Low-life/ES options exist too via the Drenched Hem node if you want to go that route.
Pets & Extras
Grab the new Terra-based pet if you can get it. Preserver of Eternity is great for any league start since it gives a chunk of movement speed, which helps offset Dance of the Deep’s move-speed penalty.
Pro Tip from My Runs: Don’t sleep on the pull/slow effects from Dream Breaker’s Gyre. They make bossing way less stressful even outside a dedicated hit build.
Why This Feels So Good in Season 13
The new season pushes constant movement. You’re following a moving objective and getting punished for falling behind.
Selena’s mobile Terra, automation, and control match that perfectly. I went from “this is gimmicky” to “why did I play anything else” in a couple of hours.
Hit me up in the comments if you try it (or if something changed post-patch, game’s always evolving). Happy grinding, don’t forget to laugh when your screen becomes a fireworks show just by walking. See you in the Afterlight!
