Doom the Dark Ages Revelations Final Boss Guide

The Henchman is the final boss of Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations. You encounter him for the second time in the game, and that’s when this tough boss fight happens. If you’re looking for a Henchman boss guide to learn his attack patterns and how to defeat him, I’ve got you covered. With that being said, let’s fight him.

How to Beat the Henchman in The Dark Ages – Revelations

This time around, the Doom Slayer is going to beat the crap out of the Henchman. I know, I’ve died to this boss even more so than the Icon of Sin back in Doom Eternal, but I have to tell you that once you learn his attack patterns, it’s doable, no big deal. Always remember to keep moving and take your time, and before you know it, the Henchman is dealt with.

Overconfidence always gets you killed one way or another. Don’t forget that. It also depends very much on the difficulty you play on. If it’s Aspiring Slayer, then it should be a walk in the park, though if it’s on higher difficulties like Ultra-Violence or Pandemonium/Nightmare, then you should watch out big time.

Henchman Attack Patterns and Phases

For this final boss fight, I used my Shredder and Rocket Launcher interchangeably. Now let’s see what to expect from the Henchman:

Phase 1: The Jump Attacks and Skulls

Right off the bat, be aware of the Henchman’s big jumps. Because whenever he lands on the ground, if you’re close enough, you’re going to take a lot of damage. So keep your distance, and when he jumps, you just jump and change your direction either right or left before he lands on the ground. You don’t want to be in the line of his greenish jump attack.

I’m not just talking about that. As a matter of fact, this isn’t the kind of boss you should fight in close quarters. During the fight, the mad Henchman spawns several things with which you can get hurt into oblivion. Normally after the jump, he slams his sticks on the ground and several purple fiery skulls come at you.

It isn’t too hard to dodge them because of the vast arena and the fact that they come at you randomly. He also spawns three large fiery pentagrams that unexpectedly fire at you. Quickly take them down if you don’t want to make your life harder than it already is.

Be aware though, when he swings his sticks, he spawns two lines of fireballs and purple fiery skulls back to back. Make sure to stand in a tiny safe spot to avoid being hurt.

It’s often followed by what looks to be some form of hellish, fiery gates, which he releases nine of them at a time.

Then again, the Henchman spawns three sharp yellow projectiles that come right at you. Make sure to dodge them too. Once you’ve inflicted enough damage to this unholy creature, it’s time to close the distance and land a couple of satisfying punches to replenish your ammo and health to some extent.

Phase 2: The Glowing Horn and Slime Attacks

For the second phase of the fight, his horn comes into play. The rest is pretty much the same. He swings it, and it hurts you pretty bad if you fail to dodge it. It’s easy, actually. Right before he swings it, the horn glows green. That’s how you know it’s time to be prepared for the dodge.

One of the few of his final tricks is, he opens his stomach and starts to spew some kind of acidic slime. Time to dodge, which is really easy. It’s the game’s way of telling you that you have to run around and pick up some health and ammo or armor.

He sometimes holds his deformed ugly left hand on the ground, which means you can’t be in the same place. Because a lot of deadly sharp sticks come out of the ground.

And that’s pretty much it. Once you’ve depleted his health bar, Doomguy delivers a beautiful Super Shotgun blast directly into his mouth and ends this pathetic creature for good.

Now that you’ve finally taken down the Henchman, you might have some questions about that cinematic. Check out our Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations Ending Explained article to see what it all means for the Doom Slayer.

Jason’s journey of countless memorable video game stories began when he was only 8 years old. Most of the time, he would play Mortal Kombat 4 on his PC after school. When night fell, it was time for the original Resident Evil 3 to scare the living daylights out of him. But he wouldn’t trade those good old days for anything. Jason is a minimalist at heart and that translates into his guide writing as well. He likes to break down gameplay mechanics into simpler parts so that the audience can find what they’re looking for in no time.
