Well Dweller the Queen Final Boss Fight & Getting Normal and True Endings Ultimate Guide

So you’ve finally reached Well Dweller’s final boss, The Queen. You’ve collected all seven Golden Feathers, beat the Silver Doll, located Ilda’s siblings, and hopefully gathered a handful of useful trinkets. But even so, your poor Glimmer is stuck and can’t beat her.
The solution to this final fight is actually simpler than you think. Just follow what the game preaches, use everything you’ve got at your disposal, from equipping the best trinket combo you have available to using every maneuver you have learned so far.
I have tried and died a few (definitely more than a few) times to her, so I’m going to generously share my hard-earned wisdom with you. Let’s go through the details of what I learned throughout all my attempts.

Where to Find the Queen in Well Dweller

The Queen is located at the southwesternmost point of the final area, the Queen’s Castle. If you still can’t find it, try going as far southwest as possible and find a tent, then head west from the tent icon on the map. Enter a vast dark room, and you should now see Glimmer’s mother stuck in a bird cage. After you approach the bird cage the first time, keep going forward to trigger another dialogue with Glimmer’s mother.
Move ahead, and the Queen will rise from the background with a gut-churning smile.

How to Dodge the Queen’s Attacks
Hitting the Queen is quite easy. It’s dodging her attacks that’s the hard part. I recommend you minimize the incoming damage as much as possible, as there won’t be enough time or room to use your oil vials to heal (unless you have the Blue Bow trinket equipped for automatic self-healing, which I highly recommend).
The Queen is going to conjure up several dangerous objects. They don’t appear in any particular order:
Spikes from the Floor and Cages from Above
Do not slide. Instead, fly and hover in the air.
Swords and Spiked Boxes
Chances are you’ll probably get hit here, unless you do flawless maneuvering. What you should do is slide through the swords when they move towards you. As for the spiked boxes of hell, try your best to jump over them, but do not stay mid-air as the swords will lunge toward you and you can only slide on the floor.
Spiked Balls, Iron Maiden, and Rings of Fire
You must slide when the balls fall, but be careful as they also explode upon impact, and sliding is required to avoid damage. Perfect timing is essential.
Immediately afterwards, an iron maiden will descend, and when it hits the ground, fiery balls will fly outward in every direction. Slide to avoid damage. And pay attention: once the iron maiden moves, spikes will spurt out in its wake.
Lastly, the Queen will bring out rings of fire that you need to slide inside and then slide again to get out of the rings.
This cycle of attacks by Well Dweller’s the Queen will be repeated until you take away half her health pool, so make sure you’re doing max damage in between all the dodging. Then we’ll move to her second phase.
The Queen’s Prison Box of Spikes

At this point, the Queen’s face looks bloodied and burnt. I didn’t notice at first, but she entraps you inside a limited box with spikes on the floor and walls.
The only platforms you have available to avoid the spikes are icy boxes, so get on them, but be careful not to slip off. Keep jumping forward on the boxes while attacking the Queen with your trusty matchstick. It is my moral duty as a gamer to remind you once more: Use that flaming vessel and shoot it at the Queen’s face.
As you progress, swords and circular saws will appear on top of you. Don’t try to slide at all. All you can do is find the perfect rhythm to jump from one point to another. I relied on the hovering ability whenever I messed up the rhythm.
When you see little arrows on tall boxes, that’s your cue to shoot your matchstick and use wall sling to jump over them. There will be fully spiked boxes in front of you, so don’t land just yet. Keep hovering and attacking.

You can’t drain all her health. The Queen will trap Glimmer inside a bird cage right before the final hit. Don’t panic, this is part of the ending.
The Ending and the Queen’s Fate
Glimmer is put next to Mother Bird inside a cage. They will have a bittersweet, yet heartwarming dialogue about the journey. Mother Bird comforts our sweet Glimmer, and as all seems lost, suddenly Looter arrives with all the friends Glimmer had made along the way. They’ve come to rescue you.

Never mind. The wretched Queen captures them too.
Egbert comes in clutch. He hatches. Then he masterfully dodges the Queen’s knife and unintentionally (or intentionally) tricks her into cutting the rope holding the cages.

As the boxes fall on the evil Queen’s head, all characters are released and the Queen falls backwards out the window into her death.
The True Ending
Don’t close the game just yet. There is a secret true ending that you can reach after the credits roll and you see the thank you message from the developer.
The Location of the True Ending
The game already puts you in front of a door. I talked to Looter and he guided me on how to open the door to the Queen’s treasure room. You should be able to find the switch on the ceiling; use wall sling and wall climb.
Proceed until you learn the game’s lore and read the book. Then move past the metal door with the star mark on it. In the new room, I got inside the bird nest. I was then teleported to another location.
The Soar Ability
When you move to the right, you pick up the Soar Ability. Use it until you reach another bird nest and free the bird soul.

Five New Locations Unlocked
At the end of this location, you’ll find a mysterious map that’ll reveal five secret locations you didn’t have access to earlier. Explore each of these new areas with the help of the map and gather the forest witch’s Spirit Fragment at the end of every area.

The enemies in each area aren’t that hard. Use the tents to fast travel.
Five Spirit Fragments, Night Garden, and the Witch
After collecting every Spirit Fragment from each location, teleport to Night Garden. Move west from the tent until you reach the area to the left. Here, I saw all the bird souls Glimmer had freed throughout the game.
Approach the last bird nest. The Spirit Fragments you gathered will break the witch’s statue, and her soul will come out. As she slowly fades away, we see all our birdy brethren return to life.

All’s well that ends well. This was the beloved developer Kyle Thompson’s newest Metroidvania.
