Scarlet Skips Ending: How to Reach It and What It Means

Scarlet Skips does have an ending and to reach it you have to keep jumping higher until you get the Super Rocket Shoes and eventually make it to the Moon. Once in the space, Scarlet finally stops jumping and looks happy, which is a big change from how sad she is at the start.

In this guide, I’ll explain how to get the Scarlet Skips ending and what exactly happens in the final scene, along with my interpretation of the ending.

How to Get the Ending in Scarlet Skips

To reach the Scarlet Skips ending, you have to jump high enough. The game gives you random upgrade cards as you keep progressing. Cards like Jump Rope, Increase Jump Height, Reinforce Jump Rope, Ignite Jump Rope, and whatnot. Three of them appear on screen and you should choose one each time.

Rocket Boots and Rocket Fuel are especially useful here because they help Scarlet stay in the air longer and reach much greater heights. You’ll know you’re getting close once Scarlet starts traveling ridiculously high and the environment begins changing as you head toward space.

But that can’t happen until you’re presented with the Super Rocket Shoes upgrade. Once you’ve chosen that upgrade, that’s it. You’re officially in the endgame.

What Happens in the Scarlet Skips Ending?

Once you’ve soared high enough, the ending plays. Scarlet is suddenly out in space with Earth beneath her feet, which shows just how far she has come from simply skipping rope in a park.

She keeps floating upward until she eventually reaches the Moon, where she lies down happily as the credits begin to roll.

What Does the Scarlet Skips Ending Mean?

The ending makes more sense when you look back at how the developer behind Yerk Games describes Scarlet’s situation. Scarlet begins the game in a funk and the basic idea is to help her get outside and start moving one jump at a time.

For me, the Moon doesn’t feel like Scarlet is literally trying to escape Earth. It gives me the impression that it’s the final payoff to the game’s whole idea of continuing to push forward. She starts with something as small as one jump but keeps going higher and higher.

Eventually, Scarlet reaches somewhere that seemed completely impossible at the beginning. What I especially like is that, after spending the entire game jumping and pushing herself further, she finally stops once she reaches the Moon. She looks happy and at peace, almost as if she has finally gone far enough that she can finally rest.

The game never gives a clear explanation, though, so the ending is still left open to interpretation. One interesting clue comes during the credits, where the game says, “Always shoot for the stars… and if you hit the moon, that’s pretty cool too!”

That line feels like a fitting summary of Scarlet’s journey: start small, but keep aiming higher and you’ll see just how far you can go. Scarlet’s journey to impossible heights feels like an exaggerated payoff to the game’s simple message. If you start small, that’s okay. You don’t need to immediately reach the Moon. You just need to make the next jump.

Interestingly enough, it seems you can avoid the ending altogether if you simply stop yourself from taking more Jump Height upgrades and continue your run instead, which is awesome for y’all who like to jump rope instead of getting the hell off Earth.

Jason’s journey of countless memorable video game stories began when he was only 8 years old. Most of the time, he would play Mortal Kombat 4 on his PC after school. When night fell, it was time for the original Resident Evil 3 to scare the living daylights out of him. But he wouldn’t trade those good old days for anything. Jason is a minimalist at heart and that translates into his guide writing as well. He likes to break down gameplay mechanics into simpler parts so that the audience can find what they’re looking for in no time.
