How to Complete the Outbound Game Maze (& 2 Outbound Maze Cheats!)

The Outbound Maze is a tricky minor quest in the Pacific Coast region. The layout is shaped like a fish, and your goal is to reach the Signal Tower in the center, known as the Outbound Eye of the Maze, to download a blueprint. The paths loop back on themselves, and you will easily run in circles. Keep reading to learn the exact route to the tower and a quick trick to skip (cheat) the maze completely.

How to Find the Outbound Maze Map

You can find the maze on the Pacific Coast, which is the second region in Outbound. To get there, you have to open the tunnel exit back in the Starting Level. The quest starts automatically as soon as you walk into the animal maze area. (Check the Outbound game maze map below)

If you want to survey the layout from above, visit “The Maze View” campfire nearby. There are also two other campfires close by: “An a-maze-ing rest” and “Crater Lake Picnic”.

How to Solve the Outbound Maze

There are 21 directional signs scattered in the area. You must follow them to find your way. But before you start, keep these tips in mind to not get lost:

Go during the day, preferably at noon. The color-coded signs are hard to distinguish in the dark.
Flip the signs in the direction you turn. This leaves a trail so you can easily backtrack.
If you explore side paths for extra loot, do not flip those specific signs. It will confuse your main trail.

Route to the Signal Tower (The Eye)

Here’s the Outbound maze solution. Follow these exact turns to reach the tower and the ladder next to it.

Start at the orange entrance sign and go right.
Turn right at the Yellow sign.
Turn right at the Blue sign.
Turn left at the Gray sign and walk past the natural Tiki torch.
Turn right at the Red sign.
Follow the bend left past the shovel.
Go left at the Black sign Y-crossing.
Turn left at the Green sign.
Turn left at the T-crossing with the barrels.
Take a left at the Yellow sign.
Go right at the Red sign +-crossing.
Turn right at the Blue sign. You will hear water here.
Take a left at the Brown sign.
Go left at the T-crossing with a Yellow sign.
Turn right at the final T-crossing to reach the tower.

Route to the Campfire

If you want to light the campfire inside the maze, the path splits early on.

Start at the orange entrance sign and go right.
Turn right at the Yellow sign.
Turn right at the Blue sign.
Turn right at the Gray sign.
Go right at the Brown sign.
Turn left at the Red sign.
Walk past the red Tiki torch and pitchfork.
Go left at the Purple sign Y-crossing.
Exit through the right side to light the campfire.

How to Skip the Outbound Labyrinth

You do not have to walk through the Outbound labyrinthe. There is a cheap and easy way to skip the Outbound maze puzzle entirely.

Note: Just remember that if you skip the intended path, you will miss out on extra loot.

The Van Exploit

You can build objects on top of your van. Park your vehicle right next to the maze wall. Climb onto your van, hop onto the maze walls, and walk directly to the tower.

The Mountain Jump

You can also jump onto the maze wall right from the nearby mountain. This is easy to spot if you approach the area from that direction.

Pro-tip: Save your game as soon as you land on the wall. This protects you in case you accidentally fall off.

Outbound Game Maze Loot and Rewards

There is plenty of loot hidden in the maze. You have to take the side paths to find them.

You can find a hidden gnome (Sir Gnomington of Banania) and a cairn. Other items include carrots, a shovel and a pitchfork. You will also spot natural and red Tiki torches. But the main reward is the rainwater energy blueprint at the Signal Tower.
