Summoning The Manta Ray
The location of the mini-island is random every time. Hop on the boat and use the radar to find two small rocky masses connected to each other by a bridge (the mini-islands appear as an “X” on the radar). On one end, you can see several copper colored barrels, a black barrel, and a sign indicating that you shouldn’t throw barrels into the sea, but let’s be honest, who listens to instructions?
Just throw the black barrel into the water, and the Manta will spawn.
Best Weapons to Hunt The Manta Ray
The Manta is pretty fast and jumps around rapidly, diving out of the water and attacking you. It’s recommended to use a fully upgraded assault rifle to kill the Manta. But if you are looking for an extra bit of challenge, use the new bow weapon added in update 1.1.0 to test your aim against this new mini-boss.

How to Get The New Bow in How To Fish Update 1.1.0
The bow is a new weapon added to the game in the Islet update to How to Fish. Near the ruined castle island with archery practice targets around it, you find an archer looking NPC. He can sell you the bow and then upgrade the arrows for the bow, but there’s a catch. This NPC doesn’t trade with dollars; he uses euros.
In order to get the bow, you can catch some of the new fish or find bottles with money (can be found on the new mini-island with the palm tree) and sell them to NPCs to get euros. Selling new fish and bottles to any NPC will get you euros, and it isn’t limited to the new NPC.
Manta Ray’s Value And Weight
The Manta, when caught, is valued between €79 and €99, a pretty good price considering the bow costs €25, and the upgrade costs start at €25 as well. The manta weighs around 500kg (that’s a hefty boy!) and can be sold to anyone and can be cooked for increased value. (Funnily enough, you can also cook the euros in the bottle to increase value.)
Other Ways to Earn Euros
In addition to the new mini-boss, new weapon, and the new NPC, a new bait is added to the game as well, which you can use to catch new fish and sell for euros. The crab carcass can be found on a new sandy mini-island with several bones on it.
Using the crab carcass, you can catch four new fish types: the Mahi Mahi, the Alaska Pollock, the Squid, and the Tench.
