Dragonsword Awakening Theresia Guide: Best Builds & Teams

Theresia is one of only ten Heretic Inquisitors of the Organa Order and she has the authority to execute anyone she deems a heretic on sight. In practice, that translates into the most reliable Bleed-and-Stun engine in Dragonsword Awakening. That is the reason she sits at the top of almost every tier list right now.
Hound13 revealed her in a hero trailer in April 2026. She has been playable since the Steam Next Fest demo, so her kit has had more community testing than most of the roster. This guide covers her skills, how to unlock her, her best build and the teams she anchors.
Quick answer: Run Theresia with the Merciful Death Sentence Karma, 3-piece Ruinsbreaker + 2-piece Holy Arbiter, main stats of ATK Power Up / Critical Hit Chance / Critical DMG and the Resolve rune. Her strongest team is Theresia + Roxy + Lute. Theresia uses Consecration for Bleed and Celestial Verdict for Stun to trigger Roxy’s swap.

Who Is Theresia in Dragonsword Awakening?
Theresia (her trait is Amplitude) fights with a pair of maces. The weapons are the whole point of her design: her swings cover an absurd amount of ground compared to the rest of the melee roster. That reach is what makes her feel different from the other bruisers. She is not a fast character in the way Roxy or Reina are, but every swing catches a wide arc, so she rarely whiffs against groups and she still holds up fine against a single boss.
Mechanically she is a status carry. She applies Bleed and Stun herself, without needing a setup teammate first, which is unusual. Most of the roster needs someone else to apply an ailment before their best damage comes online.

Theresia’s Skills and Signal Skills
Her whole kit is built on two active skills you switch between, and two Signal Skills that fire when you tag her in.
| Skill | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Consecration | Active | Performs a forward slam that leaves the maces spinning, extending and enhancing her basic attack chain while active. Applies Bleed. |
| Celestial Verdict | Active | Leaps into the air and slams the ground, creating a shockwave on impact. Applies Stun. |
| Divine Arc | Signal Skill | Activates against Stunned enemies. Closes the distance to the target and applies Bleed. This is her primary burst damage skill. |
| Holy Rise | Signal Skill | Activates against Bleeding enemies. Reapplies Bleed and launches the target into the Airborne state. |
The rotation that matters: Consecration for Bleed to Celestial Verdict for Stun and swap. The Stun is what opens the door for your second hero’s Signal Skill and Holy Rise is what lets Theresia slot into Airborne teams even though she is not an Airborne specialist herself.
How to Unlock Theresia
Theresia cannot be obtained through a gacha system because Dragonsword Awakening does not feature one. Every playable hero is unlocked through normal gameplay.
The roster splits two ways. Eight heroes join automatically at fixed points in the main story. The other eleven, Theresia among them, are recruited from the Exchange shop for one Fate’s Invitation each. Eleven Invitations clears out the shop. It does not get you the full roster, because the story heroes arrive on their own schedule.

The key is earning those invitations. The quickest way early in the game is to complete Theresia’s Hero Quest, which rewards a Fate’s Invitation. Progressing through the main story also grants additional invitations as you advance.
To spend one, open the pause menu and select Exchange, then pick Theresia from the locked list and confirm. Before you confirm, click the magnifying glass at the top right of her portrait, it opens her Data, Voice, Skills and Awaken pages. Therefore, you can read the kit you are paying for instead of guessing.
Best Build for Theresia
This is a provisional endgame build. It reflects the current consensus loadout at launch. It is what the numbers support right now. However, the meta is six days old and patch notes will move it.
- Karma Merciful Death Sentence (her exclusive Karma)
- Gear 3-piece Ruinsbreaker + 2-piece Holy Arbiter
- Main stats ATK Power Up, Critical Hit Chance, Critical DMG
- Substats Additional Power, ATK Power Up, DEF Ignore
- Rune Resolve
- Stat targets ~80% Critical Hit Chance / ~150% Critical DMG

Why this gear split
Dragonsword Awakening uses a 3+2 set rule: three pieces from one set for the larger bonus, two from another for a smaller one. Ruinsbreaker is the near-universal 3-piece core because it feeds the DEF Ignore substat line, which is what actually gets your damage through boss armour. Holy Arbiter is the 2-piece that matches Theresia’s role rather than a specific element.
Before you build her
This build assumes she is fully awakened. Awakening has six levels, costs Stigma Awakened Stone (200 Fragments of Sacred Light each, from Sudden Missions), and her first node is The Mace of Branding. Her passives and enhanced kit effects are what make the crit-heavy stat line worth it.
Also note that Grimroar, her Master Skill at the centre of the skill tree, only unlocks at character level 30. No shortcuts around that gate.
If you need her exclusive Karma outside the Hero Quest, it costs Fragments of Afterimage and Memory. Plan your farming around whichever hero you intend to main before you start spending.
Dragonsword Awakening Theresia Best Team
Theresia + Roxy + Lute. The Bleed and Stun composition and to me, it is one of the strongest teams in the game right now.
What makes it work is that Theresia does the setup and the payoff herself. No third hero has to prime anything first. Consecration applies Bleed and Celestial Verdict applies Stun.
The Stun triggers Roxy’s Signal Skill. Swap to her.
Roxy chains fast, sustained hits while the target is disabled, extending the Bleed. Bring Lute in to heal or to add another Stun, then rotate back. Against bosses this team does not rely on one big burst. Bleed keeps ticking between swaps, so your damage does not flatline while cooldowns are down.

Third slot: Lute or Castella
Lute is the default. He is one of only two healers in the game and his first Awaken node boosts party ATK. In long fights the sustain matters more than the extra control. Castella is the alternative if you want to stack more Stuns and lean into Stagger and Control. You trade away the healing to do it.
Best Theresia Team for New Players
Lute + Theresia + Ornette.
This team covers the basics: Theresia and Ornette handle damage, Lute’s healing carries you through the early boss fights that otherwise wall new players.
Nothing here requires complicated combo timing, which is the point. Treat it as a starting point rather than an endpoint:
- Swap Ornette to Roxy to move into the full Bleed composition above.
- Swap Theresia to Castella to move into Stagger and Control instead.

Best Balanced Theresia Team
Theresia + Reina + Lute. For when one team has to handle a wide range of content instead of specializing.
The link that makes this work is Holy Rise. Reina’s entire kit is built around Airborne targets and Holy Rise is Theresia’s Signal Skill that applies Bleed and launches the enemy into Airborne.
Another option is Theresia + Roxy + Castella. It is the more aggressive alternative to the Lute composition. Theresia and Roxy retain the Bleed-and-Stun core, while Castella contributes control and Super Armor Break. Use Lute when healing matters more and Castella when you want a more offensive Signal chain.
