The Control Resonant Beach Day puzzle can be a bit confusing, just like other Dylan’s Sketchbook activities. You haven’t missed some complicated clue, the scene isn’t complete yet.
For the Beach Day quest, you need to find two missing beach items nearby and put them in their correct places before you can finish the drawing.

Where Is Beach Day in Control Resonant?
The Beach Day Sketchbook activity is in Downtown, close to the Outside the Oldest House fast-travel point. Look for a construction area with a large billboard and a makeshift beach scene set up on a blue tarp.
As you get close enough to the area, the Beach Day location should appear as a Secret question-mark icon on your map. Sketchbook activities use these Secret markers rather than having their own obvious collectible icon.
Interact with the beach setup first. Dylan won’t complete the drawing because some of the props that belong in the scene are missing. Basically, Dylan sees himself as an artist and wants to first set the scene and then draw it, so this is the drill for other Sketchbook activities as well.
How to Solve the Beach Day Puzzle
You need to find and place two missing objects:
- A beach umbrella
- A beach chair
The umbrella is near the trash bins beside the Beach Day area. Pick it up and carry it over to the blue tarp.
The chair is behind the billboard, toward the end of the back alley. Grab it and bring it back to the beach setup as well.
You’ll need to put both objects into their designated positions on the tarp. The completed setup should have the chairs together with the umbrella positioned behind them. Once everything is in the right place, interact with the scene again and Dylan will finally be able to draw it.
Beach Day Reward and Work Life Balance Trophy
Finishing the puzzle unlocks the Beach Day entry in Dylan’s Sketchbook. More importantly for completionists, Beach Day counts toward the Work-Life Balance achievement, which requires you to complete all instances of the Sketchbook.
There are 11 Sketchbook drawings in total throughout Control Resonant, so Beach Day is only one part of the requirement. It is also likely to be one of the first Sketchbook activities you encounter, depending on how you explore Downtown.
So if Beach Day has been sitting unfinished on your map, you don’t need a new ability or story progression to solve it. Just track down the umbrella and the chair, return both to the blue tarp, and Dylan can take care of the rest.
