Slay the Spire 2 Abyssal Baths Guide

In Slay the Spire 2, you stumble upon random events with a question mark on them. One of them happens to be called Abyssal Baths, which gives you two options: Heal 10 HP or gain 2 Max HP and take 3 damage. That said, let’s find out what happens when you choose either of them.

Slay the Spire 2 Abyssal Baths Explained
As you enter the Abyssal Baths event, you’re faced with two choices:

- Immerse: Gain 2 Max HP. Take 3 damage.
- Abstain: Heal 10 HP.
Let’s get the second option out of the way first. If you choose Abstain, you’ll heal 10 HP and that’ll be the end of the encounter. Done and dusted, no harm done.
Though, if you choose Immerse, you’ll be plunged into the water, and just like the encounter description says, this water feels simultaneously freezing and scalding. Hence, it takes 3 of your current HP and adds 2 to your maximum HP. After you do it for the first time, two new options appear:

- Linger: Gain 2 Max HP. Take 4 damage.
- Exit Baths
Here’s the trap. Health damage scales up by one point each time you linger in there. Not to mention the Max HP you gain each time is the same 2. It’ll be like this:
- Immerse: Gain 2 Max HP. Take 3 damage.
- Linger for the first time: Gain 2 Max HP. Take 4 damage.
- Linger for the second time: Gain 2 Max HP. Take 5 damage.
- Linger for the third time: Gain 2 Max HP. Take 6 damage.
Is There a Secret Reward in STS2 Abyssal Baths?
The answer is no. You’d think there might be some kind of reward at the end. Be it a relic or something that’s worth your while. But I gotta tell you, my friends, there’s nothing at the end but death if you keep lingering there. You’ll die and that’ll be the end of your run. Though, the game gives a warning before you get the very final lethal damage.
WARNING: Some players on Reddit have reported that if you keep pushing your Max HP to 100, it might disappear later on in your run. It might be a bug that Mega Crit could fix in future updates.
What You Should Do in Abyssal Baths
The next best thing after the campfire might be this event. I admit the ratio at which it gives you the Max HP is not worth it. Abyssal Baths could be an awesome payoff, if the map shows a resting site immediately following the event.

If so, linger there and farm some serious HP. You can then regain your lost health at the campfire, which would be an awesome strategy. Be warned, though. If you have to fight an elite enemy afterwards, then I’d say abstain and be done with it. Save your HP for the elite enemy. Better safe than sorry.
That’s all the Slay the Spire 2 Abyssal Baths has to offer. Feel free to share your experience and what you’ve done so far.
