Cyberpunk Dual Wield Guide: How to Unlock Double Trouble

Jackie Welles has been showing off his two pistols for years, while V had to settle for one. Well, not anymore! The Cyberpunk dual wield feature is finally here with Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, thanks to the new Double Trouble perk. But before you go full gunslinger in Night City, there’s a catch: not every handgun supports it.

How to Unlock Dual Wielding in Cyberpunk 2077

To unlock dual wielding, you’ll need the Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree, which was added in Update 2.5.

Open your Character menu, head to the Cool attribute tree, and look for Double Trouble. This perk has two levels, each adding something new to your dual-wielding abilities.

At Level 1, you can wield two Power pistols or Power revolvers, but each weapon deals 37.5% less damage. When aiming, you get 15% less recoil and bullet spread, along with the ability to fire both weapons simultaneously.

At Level 2, you unlock Heywood Hurricane, which automatically fires both guns for one second. The attack increases bullet spread by 50%, but ammo spent on successful shots is automatically refilled. It also replaces your Quick Melee Attack.

There are four additional perks designed to support this combat style.

Which Weapons Can You Dual Wield?

Here’s the catch I mentioned earlier. Double Trouble only supports Power pistols and Power revolvers. So, if you were planning to run around Night City with two shotguns, you’ll have to rethink that plan.

Smart and Tech pistols aren’t included either. Make sure your weapon belongs to the Power category before trying to use it with Double Trouble. It’s still unclear whether you can mix different Power handguns.

Can You Dual Wield Jackie’s Pistols?

Jackie Welles’ famous La Chingona Dorada pistols belong to the Power category, making them an obvious choice for the new mechanic.

If you haven’t collected them, you’ll need to complete the Heroes side quest. Then, wait approximately 24 in-game hours and return to Jackie’s altar at El Coyote Cojo to pick up his pistols.

Do You Need Phantom Liberty or a Mod to Dual Wield?

Nope! Dual wielding is included in the free Update 2.5, so you don’t need Phantom Liberty or a third-party mod. The update was released on October 22, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 will receive it later.

If Double Trouble isn’t appearing in your Cool skill tree, make sure your game is updated to version 2.5 before changing your build.
