How to Get Aura in Sandustry (Step-by-Step Chain)

Is Sandustry Aura even real, or is it one of those myths that never actually shows up in the game? Good news is it’s as real as water in the game. Aura is a confirmed late-game system you unlock through the Swarm Console, and it ties into two Steam achievements. Here’s the full production chain and everything that’s actually confirmed.

What Is Aura in Sandustry?

Aura is a late-game progression system you unlock through the Swarm Console. Once it’s active, an “Aura circle” appears and fills up as you produce Aura. Filling it completely unlocks the next factory tier.

You fill the circle by running Auralite through an Aura Extractor, which spits out Aura as a byproduct. Two achievements are tied to this system, and I’ll cover those next.

Aura Extractor and Full Circle Achievements

Two Steam/Xbox/GOG achievements are tied to this system:

  • Aura Extractor: unlock Aura Extraction through the Swarm Console.
  • Full Circle: fill the whole Aura circle to unlock the next factory tier.

Both are exact-match milestones, so if you’re chasing 100%, these are just checkpoints along the production chain below, not separate side content.

How to Get Sandustry Aura: The Full Production Chain

There are six steps to complete the full Aura production chain. Here’s how to get Aura from start to finish:

  1. Dry Amethelis with a Steam Dryer and steam.
  2. Burn the dried Amethelis. It turns into Florin and floats like steam.
  3. Condense the Florin with a Condenser into liquid Florinol.
  4. Feed Florinol into a Synthesizer to get Aurixite.
  5. Run Aurixite through the Aura Extractor to get Auralite, plus Aura as a byproduct.
  6. Watch the Aura circle fill as Auralite production continues.

Aurixite is a Solid-type material, for what it’s worth if you’re tracking inventory categories.

What Auralite Is Used For

Once you’ve got Auralite, it becomes a third research currency. You usually spend Gold or Energy to unlock new buildings and tools in the Research tab. But now you can spend Auralite on that too. It’s not locked to Gold only. That’s the whole payoff for running the Amethelis chain: Auralite buys you research progress that Gold and Energy alone can’t cover as efficiently late-game.

What to Do With Leftover Amethelis

Run out of Redsand on a map, and you’ll usually be sitting on a huge pile of leftover Amethelis with nothing to do with it. Turns out that’s exactly the input this whole chain needs. Instead of letting it sit there, feed it into the Dryer → Florin → Florinol → Aurixite line, and it becomes your Aura source. It’s a clean way to turn early-game surplus into late-game currency instead of wasting it.

By now, you should be able to get Aura. Do you still have problems? Ask your questions in the comments below, and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

FAQ

Is the Aura Extractor bug fixed?

A Steam Community thread claims it’s “completely broken,” but there’s no follow-up on the status. The Aug 14 hotfix may have addressed it, but that’s not confirmed either way. So don’t count on it working perfectly yet.

Is Auralite a solid or a gas?

The official infobox lists it as Solid, but a separate index groups it under Gas. There’s also a distinct “Auralite Crystal” terrain entry. So this might be two different objects, a minable ore and a processed gas, rather than an actual contradiction.

How much Aura do you need for the Prismite and Prismaline Wells?

An unofficial fan-made flow chart puts it at 1,407 Aura for the Prismite Well and 10,000 for the Prismaline Well. These numbers aren’t from the official wiki, so treat them as rough estimates until confirmed.
