Gray Zone Warfare Hideout Materials Guide: Dynamo, Wood & Plastics

With the new 0.5 update that dropped for Gray Zone Warfare, we got a wicked new feature: Hideouts. Hideouts are basically your personal little workshops. Instead of simply collecting loot to sell to traders, you can use items such as Dynamo, Wood, and Plastics to construct stations (Utility Room, Laboratory, and Electronics Workshop) that unlock equipment production and upgrade them.
If you’re looking to farm general hideout materials from all over Lamang Island, your best starting point is the Construction Site (150, 168, northeast of the Crimson Shield) where you can find multiple basic materials and known crates that give you Steel, Fabrics, and Glass. However, if you want the items that are harder to find, the locations with best chances of finding Dynamo, Wood, and Plastics in order are: Northern Reach (Supply Yard) – Thavieng Farm – Nakasa Village.
Shoot for what you want:
Gray Zone Warfare Dynamo Locations

If you’re building your hideout, of course you’re going to need Dynamo to power up your stations. If you’re still early in the hideout-building process, I recommend getting 2 Dynamos at least. Each Generator you will create requires one dynamo, regardless of whether it is level 1 or level 2 Generator.
Unlike most materials I needed for my hideout like steel and glass, which could be found inside locked containers (in blue-striped crates), Dynamos spawn out in the open. I usually found them resting on workbenches, wooden crates, or industrial pallets.
These are the exact locations where I found Dynamos, ranked from best chance to worst chance:
Northern Reach – Supply Yard
The Supply Yard in Northern Reach is a premier hotspot that can spawn a Dynamo in multiple spots across consecutive raids. Check inside the maintenance building, on the blue workbench, there should be a Dynamo that often spawns alongside Motor Oil on the adjacent shelf. And check outside in the yard itself, on top of the wooden crate next to the green shipping containers there should be another one.
YBL-1 Generator Room
This is another great spot for Dynamo hunting. Bring a flashlight before entering YBL-1. The interior is dark.
Head inside the bunker and work your way down toward the generator room on the lower level. Search inside the room, around its entrance, and in nearby technical spaces. Dynamos have also been found in the bunker’s air room. Sometimes, it’s spawned on storage shelves on the underground bunker floors or in the supply outbuilding (shack) next to the vehicle dump lot heading into YBL West. Keep in mind that these spots don’t guarantee Dynamo respawns on returns to this location.
The only thing putting this location under the Supply Yard is that its tight underground CQB and the new keypad lock on the Generator Room (added in 0.5) make it slightly slower to clear than the yard. You can bypass the keypad using a Gray Zone Warfare Hacking Tool.
Hunter’s Paradise
If you’re all the way across from YBL, perhaps in the northern or eastern section of the map, go to this place. Hunter’s Paradise is way closer than YBL.
Search the east side of the motel garage. That’s where I found Dynamos among some maintenance equipment. The beds of pickup trucks around the motel are also where they spawn sometimes. Another spawn location is on a bench inside the shack between the living quarters and the shooting range. If you have trouble finding this last spot, approach Hunter’s Paradise from the northeast and walk past the ATM toward the Shooting Range. Now check the spot between there and the living quarters.
Other Dynamo Spawn Locations
- Fort Narith Airfield – Fuel Storage Shed: You can find the Fuel Storage Shed on the southeastern side of the fort. There, inside a small shed, the Dynamo spawns directly on the wooden workbench next to blue plastic storage bins.
- Construction Site (by Roadside Market): Look on the ground beside the concrete barriers and caged IBC water totes. The Dynamo is on a wooden pallet.
- Midnight Sapphire: Search the upper-floor supply closets in the main hotel. Either maintenance shelves or employee-service areas will spawn the Dynamo.
- Pha Lang Airfield: This place has low enemy activity, but also lower Dynamo spawn density spread across its wide hangars.
- Military Warehouse North of LZ Delta 4: You’ll face some standard LAF soldiers here, but inside the warehouses are 1-3 Dynamos waiting for you. There is a high chance you even get Dynamo respawns, so visit this location again if you want.
Gray Zone Warfare Wood Locations

You will be using Wood to build a lot of first-tier Hideout stations such as Manual Tooling Rig and Open Fire Pit. Each requires at least one piece of Wood.
You might think construction sites are the best place to look for lumber, but small rural POIs and farmsteads offer far more consistent Wood. These are the exact locations where I found Wood, from best spot to worst spot based on spawn chance and frequency:
Thavieng Farm (Map Coordinates 152, 130)
First off, call a helicopter to LZ Mike 4 (southwest of Claw Hill and northeast of F-3 Auxiliary Base) and walk southwest to Thavieng Farm at coordinates 152, 130. Once you get there, you’ll be facing two enemy soldiers outside the house and one inside. Check the Building Materials Crate sitting against the metal fence behind the house. Across my five consecutive runs to this location, this crate reliably yielded 2x Wood every single time. I often found them paired with Plumbing Parts.
Old Hut (Northwest of Fort Narith / Above LZ Delta 4)
To head to this location, deploy to LZ Delta 4 (located northwest of Fort Narith and southwest of Aquila) via a chopper and just head north to the Old Hut POI. This spot has no enemies and offers up to 3x Wood at once. First, open the wooden supplies crate under the front overhang of the hut, which can hold 2x Wood alongside Steel. Next, swing around to the backside of the building near the cut timber piles to grab an additional floor spawn of 1x Wood. The Wood should be on the dirt.
Small Marketplace (South of Midnight Sapphire)
This one is the easiest spot I found but yields only one piece of Wood. Head to the Small Marketplace POI located south of Midnight Sapphire (between Old Sawmill / Old Farmhouse and Construction Site). Check underneath the small green stilt house next to the parked pickup truck and sandbags. 1x Wood is right there on the dirt floor, right beside a blue plastic bin.
Nony Village (154, 163) & Construction Site (150, 168)
At Nony Village (154, 163), two piles of Wood are inside a crate. And in Construction Site (150, 168), which is northeast of the Crimson Shield, there are multiple blue-striped crates containing building materials, Wood included.
Gray Zone Warfare Plastics Locations

Plastics is one of the more important materials you need, especially because it is needed to build the Laboratory. Thankfully, the maximum number of Plastics you’ll need (that is if you want to build all upgrades) is 10. And no single station upgrade requires more than 2 pieces of Plastics at a time. Here are the best locations where you can find Plastics:
Nakasa Village (Near Fort Narith)
This was the single best spot I could find to loot Plastics. Head just north of Fort Narith (near the Old Ceremonial Grounds and Camping Ground) to reach this village. Once you reach the area, check the fenced-in storage yard stacked with lumber and shipping boxes; the blue-striped crate tucked among other wooden crates is a verified spawn spot for Plastics.
Ban Langphou (152, 168)
Follow the coordinates and once you reach this location, go inside the house. Inside the house, there is another blue-striped crate that you can loot for Plastics.
Best Locations to Farm Gray Zone Warfare Hideout Materials

Every “Building Material” item in the game is manufactured by General Local and has “Useful for building and upgrading Hideout stations” as its description. These items can be found around the game’s world in scattered crates with blue stripes on them. Besides Dynamo, Motor Oil, Wood, and Plastics, here are all the other Hideout Materials you need, plus the best spots to look for them:
| Item | Best Location |
|---|---|
| Steel | Hunter’s Paradise & Construction Site (150, 168) |
| Glass | Fort Narith – Airfield Old Entrance (145, 126) |
| Plumbing Parts | Small Marketplace & Thavieng Farm (152, 130) |
| Mechanical Parts | Northern Reach (Supply Yard & Offices) & Small Marketplace |
| Electrical Parts | Trashed Campsites (e.g., 177, 163) & Tiger Bay Mall (2nd Floor PC World) |
| Construction Material | Small Marketplace & Hunter’s Paradise Construction Site (150, 168) |

Motor Oil
Along with Steel, Mechanical Parts, and Dynamo, you’ll need Motor Oil for your generators. If you’re trying to find Motor Oil for your first generator, you have to look where you can find the Gray Zone Warfare Motor Oil the easiest way possible, and learn the best way to farm them.
