Castlevania Belmont’s Curse Wine Cellar: How to Enter, Open Blocked Doors & Find All Secrets

The Wine Cellar in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse trips a lot of people up. You’ll hit blocked doors, map rooms that don’t connect the way they look or platforms that go nowhere. Even after you get in, some collectibles hide pretty well.
The big thing to remember: not every part of the Wine Cellar opens from the same entrance. Some spots need you to come in from another Main Hall area, especially the hidden route near Alucard’s portrait in the Entrance Corridor.
This guide covers how to get in, open the blocked bits, work the platforms and grab the Cursed Coin, Wise Heart Fragment, ATK UP book and hidden XP statue. It also helps if your Main Hall is stuck at 99%.
All About Wine Cellar:
Where Is the Wine Cellar in Castlevania

It’s a sub-area of the Main Hall that links to the Entrance Corridor, Armoury and Dungeon.
There’s a red doorway at the left end of the Entrance Corridor’s lower floor that leads in, but that doesn’t unlock everything. The map can lie a bit, rooms look connected when the real way in is elsewhere. Stuck near the Dungeon? You probably need a different approach.
Best starting point is the Main Hall Entrance Corridor Mirror of Life.
How to Enter the Blocked Wine Cellar Area
If the section near the Dungeon won’t open, use Alucard’s portrait route.
- Fast-travel to the Entrance Corridor Mirror of Life.
- Head right out of the mirror room, find the big Alucard portrait pointing up.
- Look above it, there’s a glowing red doorway.
- Whip the painting with your Arcane Whip to reach the upper passage.
- Through the red doorway, go into the Wine Cellar (it heads toward the Armoury too).
- Now check those previously blocked doors and platforms from the new side.
Alucard’s portraits aren’t just decoration, they point the way to hidden routes.
What if the Wine Cellar Still Looks Blocked?

Double-check you’re looking at the right Main Hall map view. Background transitions and interconnected sections can trick you.
Some players couldn’t enter from above or below and needed a transition door from another Main Hall section. If you’ve already used the Alucard path, compare entrances on both map views, a visible connection isn’t always walkable from where you’re standing.
How to Open the Barricaded Door in the Wine Cellar
One door only opens if you smash the obstruction from the left side. Attacking it from the right does nothing. Find the other route (the Entrance Corridor path helps) so you can hit it from the correct side.
How Do the Wine Cellar Levers and Platforms Work?
There are levers that raise and lower platforms. Hit one, the layout changes; hit it again and it switches back.
If you can’t reach a ledge, try the nearby lever first. Watch which platforms move. No single sequence works for every situation, so just experiment with the arrangements.
All Wine Cellar Collectibles and Their Locations
Four main rewards sit here: Cursed Coin, Wise Heart Fragment, ATK UP book and an XP statue. Some need high platforms or side routes.
Cursed Coin Location: How to Reach the Chest

Chest sits on an elevated platform in the northeast, above the Dungeon entrance. Start on the platform below it, smash the western wall to open a hidden room, clear the upper combat section, then grapple up with the Arcane Whip. Archives Mirror of Life is a handy nearby save.
Wise Heart Fragment Location: Use the Armoury Detour

This one boosts max mana (four fragments means one upgrade). You often can’t grab it by going straight through the Wine Cellar. Go up the Armoury, come back via the southeastern doorway. Storerooms Mirror of Life works well as a checkpoint.
ATK UP Book Location: Reach the Upper-Left Perch

Permanent one additional attack power is the reward of ATK Book. It’s on a high perch in the upper-left, reached by climbing chandeliers and vertical routes. Check the elevated walls for the hidden passage.
Hidden XP Statue Location: Break the Wall

One XP statue hides behind a breakable (cracked) wall. Smash it and destroy the statue. Look for damaged surfaces instead of just upper platforms.
FAQs
Do You Need Double Jump or Other Abilities to Complete the Wine Cellar?
Arcane Whip handles the Alucard doorway and the Cursed Coin grapple. Continuing into the Armoury toward Alucard’s Tower needs Double Jump and Aerial Rush for the vertical shafts and spikes. Not every Wine Cellar collectible requires them, though.
Wine Cellar Stuck at 99%: What Should You Check?
First rule out the three secret areas, the Alucard portrait route, the one-sided barricaded door and any alternate map connections. Equip Gloomstone if you have it and recheck walls. These steps catch most ordinary misses.
