Does Trevor Belmont Die in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse? His Fate Explained

The Catacombs scene in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse really makes it look like Trevor Belmont is done for. So does he actually die in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse? Not in the Normal or True endings. The Bad Ending leaves his fate pretty unclear, though. But there’s more to Trevor’s story than meets the eye. Here’s everything you need to know about his role in the game.

Does Trevor Belmont Die in Belmont’s Curse?
Trevor Belmont is confirmed alive in both the Normal and True endings of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. His fate in the Bad Ending remains unclear, though.
During Rose’s first encounter with Death in the Catacombs of Paris, Trevor jumps in to protect her. He gets hurt pretty bad yet still manages to get her out of there. Rose loses sight of him afterward and ends up thinking he’s gone for good.

In the Bad Ending (False Ending), Rose falls into Death’s trap. She gets swallowed by Dracula’s curse, which leaves Trevor’s fate unresolved.

In the Normal Ending, Rose beats Dracula and reunites with her dad, even though the curse is still active.

In the True Ending (the good one), she completely breaks the curse and Trevor shows up alive right beside her.

So yeah, even though it looks like he dies in the Catacombs, Trevor pulls through the main story. And there’s no real confirmation that he dies in the False Ending either.

Where Does Trevor Belmont Appear Again?
Trevor first shows up right at the start of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. He and Rose arrive in Paris by boat and before they split up, he hands her the Tarot cards her mom, Sypha, made. Rose goes off to explore the city while Trevor heads out to find the bishop who asked for their help.
After the whole Catacombs mess, you run into him again in the Transept of Notre-Dame Cathedral. Rose finds him alive, but he’s being held captive by Death. During that confrontation, Death lets it slip that they used Trevor’s blood to unlock some hidden power of Dracula’s.

Once Rose takes Death down, she reunites with her dad in the infirmary over in the cathedral’s Deacon’s Quarter. That’s when Trevor tells her the truth: she wasn’t the reason her mom died. Sypha died from Dracula’s curse, not because she gave birth to Rose.
He also hands over the legendary Vampire Killer whip and basically says she’s ready to carry on the Belmont family duty.
Can You Play as Trevor Belmont?
Unfortunately, Trevor Belmont isn’t playable in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Rose is the game’s protagonist and there’s no confirmed unlockable Trevor Mode.
Even the Midnight Edition’s alternate costumes are for Rose, not a separate playable Trevor character.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Trevor became playable in a future update. However, that’s just something I’d love to see and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Unfortunately, no official source confirms that a playable Trevor expansion is coming.
What Is Trevor Belmont’s Role in Rose’s Story?
Trevor took down Count Dracula about 23 years before the events of Belmont’s Curse. The game is set in Paris in 1499. Trevor and Rose travel down the River Seine after receiving a call for help from Paris, where the city is already burning.
The whole adventure hits close to home for them. Rose’s mom, Sypha Belnades, fought alongside Trevor against Dracula, but she died from his curse not long after Rose was born. Rose even carries a piece of that same curse in her right arm.
Rose is out to prove herself to her dad at the same time she deals with the curse she inherited. Trevor represents the legendary Belmont legacy, but at the end of the day this story is really about Rose forging her own path.
And if you’re wondering who voices Trevor Belmont, it’s JB Blanc. You can also check out our Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse voice actors guide for the rest of the cast.
