Playful little Jack Marston loses Abigail’s thimble and Arthur Morgan promises him that he’ll find a replacement. Jack’s request might sound like one of the easier item requests in RDR2, but that tiny thimble can be a pain to find.
Generally, you likely get one when you loot corpses across the map, but that’s not guaranteed to grant you a thimble every single time. It could take you hours. There are a couple of places that most likely give you a thimble, with the most likely one being in the Rhodes Saloon’s back room, where four ladies hang around.

RDR2 Thimble Location: Rhodes Saloon Method
Once Jack has asked for help, travel to the Rhodes Saloon. Make a manual save first, then enter the saloon and turn right.
Head into the back room, where four ladies hang around. You can kill them or hogtie them.
That’s up to you. Whatever you do, make sure to loot all of them. If you don’t find one on your first try, reload and try again. If you find a thimble, get the hell out of Dodge before the authorities arrive. I’ve gotten a thimble this way more than once and so have a lot of players in this thread.
Where to Find Another Thimble in RDR2: Limpany
If you happen to be around Limpany, south of Valentine, there’s a corpse behind the small buildings near the Limpany gold-bar location, not inside the jail cell.
Make a save first, then loot the body. Try a couple of times if you fail to loot a thimble off him. You can also loot a thimble off bounty hunters throughout the map.
How to Trigger Jack’s Thimble Request
Jack can start this request in Chapter 2 after you complete A Fisher of Men. Spend some time in camp between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Look for Jack near Dutch’s tent. He approaches Arthur and seems grateful for the fact that you took him fishing.
Then he talks about how he lost his mother’s thimble. He worries that Abigail’s going to be super mad about it. But Arthur assures him that he’ll find a replacement thimble for Abigail, so no harm done.
He also has a separate Penny Dreadful book request during A Fisher of Men, so check that you’re following the thimble errand.
Can’t Find a Thimble for Jack in RDR2?
If you aren’t successful in your first few attempts to find a thimble, that doesn’t prove the request is broken. Since the thimble is random loot, you can search bodies without finding one even when the request is active. Keep that in mind before reloading an earlier save just to try again. I’d first try the Rhodes Saloon method or the Limpany corpse.
How to Complete Jack’s Thimble Request
To complete Jack’s thimble request, bring the thimble back to Jack and interact with him. Choose “Give Request” to hand him a thimble. Little Jack then thanks you and brings one of his cute drawings to your tent as a reward.
The delivery also counts toward Errand Boy, which requires completing five camp companion item requests. Aim to get Jack’s request started during Chapter 2 so you don’t miss its availability window.
