Dimraeth Races: Every Playable Race and What’s Coming Next

Which races should I pick in Dimraeth? The Steam page talks about 8 races, but when you open the game you only see 3. If you want to know about all Dimraeth races, how each one changes your character, and which races are coming next, stay with us.
In This Guide:
How Many Races Are in Dimraeth?
There are 3 playable races in Dimraeth right now: Human, Minotaur, and Elf.
The number 8 you see on the Steam page is the goal for the full game, not what’s in Early Access today. Mudtek plans 8 races and 6 classes, which makes 48 race and class combinations in total.

For now, you get 3 races and 3 classes (Brawler, Magician, and Shadow), so 9 combinations. Each race also has a male and a female version, plus color options for customization. Your gender choice is only for looks and doesn’t change how the race plays.
How Races Work in Dimraeth
In most RPGs, your race is just a skin or a small stat bonus. In Dimraeth it’s so much more important than that. Here’s what your race decides:
- Your weapon. Weapons are locked to your race. Humans use a sword and crossbow, Minotaurs use a big battle axe, and Elves use daggers. There’s no way to change this right now, so if you want to swing an axe, you have to be a Minotaur.
- Half of your skill tree. Your skill tree has four wings. The north and south wings come from your race, and the east and west wings come from your class. On top of that, every race and class pair adds a smaller tree of its own. A race brings around 230 nodes, the class brings about 230 more, and the pairing adds about 80, so you end up with over 500 nodes.
- Your racial spells. Each race starts with its own basic kit and has six signature spells inside its part of the tree.
- How your stats scale. Every race and class pair gets a unique passive that makes a certain stat more useful. For example, a Human Magician gets extra magic damage from the Adventure stat, while an Elf Magician gets that bonus from Agility.

A few things your race does not decide:
- Your class. Any race can play any class. A Minotaur Magician swinging an axe and throwing spells is totally possible.
- Spell books. The spell books you find or buy in the world can be learned by any race, as long as you meet the stat requirements. Spells from boss drops aren’t race locked either.
Important: You can’t change your race later. Your race and class are tied to that character, so if you want to try another race, you need to make a new character. The good news is that your skill points can be reset for a small amount of gold, so you can still change your build.
All Playable Dimraeth Races
So far there are only 3 playable races in Dimreath:
Human
Humans are the most common people in Mirkea, and they are known for being smart and adaptable. In combat, that adaptability is the whole point: the Human can switch between a sword and a crossbow in the middle of a fight, and it can take an aimed shot with the crossbow.

In the Human’s part of the skill tree, the north wing focuses on sword skills and the south wing focuses on crossbow skills. So if you like close combat, head north, and if you’d rather shoot from a distance, head south. You can also mix both.
Pick the Human if: you want to switch between melee and ranged combat, or you want a flexible character that works with any class.
Minotaur
Minotaurs are huge, between 7 and 10 feet tall, with the head of a bull and sharp curved horns. They are very strong, but also smart and good at strategy. From the NPCs you meet (like Manga at the forge, who was exiled from the Minotaur Empire), you’ll learn that Minotaur men are trained for war from birth.

The Minotaur fights with a big two-handed battle axe. Its racial skills are built around charging into enemies, tossing boulders, and shaking the ground with heavy stomps. It’s the most “tank” feeling race right now.
The downside is speed. Minotaur attacks feel slower than the other races, and its combat isn’t as flashy as the Human or Elf. The Minotaur’s movement speed seems to be the same as everyone else’s, though. It just feels slower because the character is so big.
Pick the Minotaur if: you want heavy hits, a big axe, and a strong front line fighter (even as a Magician).
Elf
The Elf is the new race added for Early Access. Elves in Dimraeth can see a few moments into the future. Long ago, their strongest seers could look centuries ahead, and that led to a dark event called the Purge, when the elven leaders turned on their own people (you’ll learn more about this through the ancient elven tablet quest).

That future-sight idea shows up in the Elf’s combat. The Elf fights with daggers, and its racial skills are built around time magic:
- Basic racial attack: slashes the enemies in front of you and then you take a step back.
- Temporal Surge: a stack you gain from your Elf abilities. At first it just gives you movement speed, but perks in the skill tree give it extra effects.
- Chronospike: a racial skill that also gives you Temporal Surge stacks. It pairs well with damage over time builds.
- Temporal Echo and Echo Rift: later skills and perks that build “echo” on enemies and give bonus damage.
Elf is probably the most vulnerable race out of the three, so you’ll want to use that step-back and movement speed to stay safe. Don’t mix up the playable Elf with Eldorian, the elf NPC who uses a spear. The playable Elf uses daggers.
Pick the Elf if: you like fast, mobile fights and want to play with time magic and combo effects.
Race and Class Archetypes
When you pick a race and a class, the game gives your character an archetype name. Here are the ones that are confirmed so far:
| Race | Brawler | Magician |
| Human | Wild Strider | Elemental Ranger |
| Minotaur | Vanguard | Earth Shaker |
A Human Magician (Elemental Ranger) mixes fire and ice magic with sword and crossbow attacks, while a Minotaur Magician (Earth Shaker) casts spells while swinging an axe and making tremors with its stomps.

Other archetype names include Dreadhorn, Gloomstalker, Phase Duelist, and Echo Weaver, which belong to the Shadow and Elf pairings. Always read the description on the character creation screen before you pick, because it shows the early skills you’ll get.
Upcoming Dimraeth Races
Mudtek has named the races it plans to add. A developer shared this list on the Steam forums:
| Type | Races |
| Conventional | Human, Elf, Dwarf |
| Unconventional | Minotaur, Centaur, Golem, Fairy, Troll, Griffon |
That’s 9 races, even though the Steam page says 8. When players pointed this out, the developer said it’s an old planning issue. One race might get cut, or Mudtek might add all 9 by the 1.0 release. They haven’t decided yet.
So the upcoming races are Dwarf, Centaur, Golem, Fairy, Troll, and Griffon. The team’s goal is roughly one new race or class every four months.
