Two Point Museum Cafeteria: Make a Lot of Money

When I first started playing Two Point Museum, I thought the cafeteria was just a nice little extra. A place for visitors to grab a snack, maybe boost their happiness a bit. Boy, was I wrong.
But the fact is that the cafeteria is one of your biggest money-makers. Get it right, and your museum’s finances will thank you. Get it wrong, and you’re leaving serious cash on the table.
Here’s everything I’ve learned about running a cafeteria that actually works in this indie game.
All About Cafeteria:

| Build Bancho Sushi Bar | Generating Buzz and visitor donations |
What’s New in June 2026
Before we dive in, let’s talk about what’s changed. Two Point Studios just dropped Update 10.0 and there’s some good complementary stuff for cafeteria:
- The Bancho Sushi Bar is new. It lets you serve fresh fish collected by Experts on Blue Hole expeditions, generating Buzz and special visitor donations. Yeah, you can literally serve sushi from your exhibits now. Wild.

- Anniversary Cake is a new self-serve item where guests and staff can grab a slice to boost their Food need. Freebie item, so grab it.
The game’s had 10 free updates since launch with loads of quality-of-life improvements, so if you haven’t played in a while, things have gotten smoother.
The Money-Making Strategies
Two Point Museum cafeteria is important because it’s one of the best ways to makes money.
But before you can serve anything, you need the right setup. Your cafeteria needs:
- Cafeteria Archway (the entrance)
- Serving Station
- Cafeteria Table
- Tray Bin (because nobody likes dirty trays lying around)
Each Serving Station needs one Assistant to run it. If you’ve got long queues (and you will once your museum gets busy), add more stations and hire more Assistants.
These were the basics, let’s see how your cafe can be really profitable.
Location of the Cafeteria
This is the single most important decision you’ll make. Where do you put your cafeteria?
I’d say put it near the exit. I know it sounds counterintuitive (shouldn’t food be available when people are hungry during their visit?), but here’s the thing: visitors hit the cafeteria on their way out, grab a snack and drink, and that’s pure profit at the end of their trip.
Some players take it further and design their museum so that visitors have to pass the gift shop before reaching the cafeteria. Double the sales opportunities. Genius.
Pricing: The Sweet Spot
This is where the real strategy kicks in.
Use the management page to tweak your cafeteria prices. Here’s the trick: raise prices until customers say the value is “fair” rather than “good.”

“Good” value means you’re leaving money on the table. “Fair” means you’re maximizing profit without making people angry. Keep adjusting and checking customer feedback. It’s tedious but worth it.
Menu Management
You can actually manually adjust what’s on your cafeteria menu. This isn’t just cosmetic. Some VIP guests have specific “Dream Visits” that require certain foods. If you want to complete those (and you do, the rewards are great), you’ll need to tweak your menu to match what they want.
Guiding Visitor Traffic
The cafeteria isn’t just a room; it’s part of your museum’s overall flow. Place your cafeteria and gift shop where visitors will naturally pass through them.
The better the visitor route, the higher the Buzz and Knowledge levels, which means bigger donations. Your cafeteria contributes to this by keeping people happy and in the museum longer.
Staff Break Rooms
Don’t forget your employees. Place staff areas (break rooms with coffee and snacks) near the cafeteria so your Assistants can take quick breaks without trekking across the entire museum. Happy staff = faster service = happier visitors and more money.
Cafeterias Replace Vending Machines
Here’s a trap I fell into early on: I spammed vending machines everywhere because they were cheap and easy. Bad move.

Vending machines are fine for quick fixes, but cafeterias and gift shops make way more money. The goal is to eventually phase out vending machines and replace them with proper cafeterias. Yes, it costs more upfront. Yes, it’s worth it.
Staff Management
I mentioned the importance of staff, but it wasn’t enough. So I’ve written about it in a dedicated section:
Hiring the Right Assistants
Assistants handle gift shop registers and cafeteria service. They’re your most versatile employees.
For cafeteria staff, prioritize Assistants with Customer Service skills. This gives a 10% happiness boostafter they interact with a visitor. That’s huge so I don’t want to miss it.
Avoiding Bottlenecks
If you see long lines at your cafeteria, you need more Serving Stations and more Assistants. Don’t wait until visitors are complaining. Keep an eye on queue lengths and expand proactively.
Cafeteria: The Way to More Money
The cafeteria is a profit center that ties into your museum’s entire flow. Get the location right, price smart, keep your staff trained, and take advantage of the new content dropping.
One last piece of advice: Just keep experimenting in this game. Every museum layout is different, and what works for one person might not work for you. Watch your visitors and adjust accordingly.
Now go build that cafeteria and start raking in those snack dollars. Your museum’s budget will thank you.
FAQs
Can my staff use the cafeteria, or is it just for visitors?
Yes they can. Staff won’t pay for their meals but receive the same buffs for good service and being fully fed like other visitors.
Should I still build staff rooms with vending machines if I have a cafeteria?
You don’t need vending machine once you build a cafeteria. However, you probably still need room for staff to help them recover.
When do I get the cafeteria?
It becomes available once you achieve one star on a museum. After earning your first star, the cafeteria will appear as a new room you can build.
How to achieve one star?
Check your curator challenges (star objectives) and complete every task on the list. Once all tasks are finished, the first star is automatically awarded.
